Step-By-Step Winter Care Routine for Oily Skin

Step-By-Step Winter Care Routine for Oily Skin

Winter, as warm and cosy as it feels, can also be harsh on your skin, especially if you have oily skin. As soon as the weather turns cold, your skin may start to react to the changing temperature, developing dehydration in a matter of days. Consequently, you may experience skin dryness, acne, and a plethora of other skin problems. But the good news is that you can prevent all of that from happening by following a proper winter skincare routine designed especially for oily skin.

This blog will tell you a step-by-step routine to take care of your oily skin in winters. Let’s check it out:

Step 1: Double Cleansing

You may not know this, but massaging oil on the skin is a part of skin cleansing. This is also the first step in the double cleansing routine. You will need to choose an oil that best suits your skin. Jojoba oil, sunflower oil, and sweet almond oil are some of the oils considered best for skin massaging. Choose an oil making sure it is non-comedogenic so that it doesn’t clog your skin pores.

It is recommended to gently massage the skin with your chosen oil at night and rinse it off using a water-based cleanser suited to your skin. Do this every two or three days. For this step, you may also want to clear your face using an oil-control face wash for maximum results.

Step 2: Tone the Skin

After cleansing, it is best to tone the skin using a gentle moisturising toner that is free of alcohol, fragrance, or any essential oil. The toner also needs to hydrate the skin well so that other products, including your face moisturizer for oily skin can penetrate the skin.

Step 3: Serum

Ideally, any skincare routine should have the use of a suitable serum to keep potential skin issues at bay. CIEL Skin Brightening Serum works like a charm during the winter months as it aptly nourishes the skin. That said, you should not use a serum with overly drying ingredients as it can irritate the oily skin.

Step 4: Moisturise

This is the last step in your winter skincare routine for oily skin. You want to moisturise your skin with emollients like ceramides and petrolatum and humectants like glycerine and hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier for the skin.

Tip: For oily skin, it’s recommended to wash your face twice a day to keep the skin clear and prevent acne. Make sure to use the best face wash for oily skin to remove excess oil from the skin.
